Wayne Lin

A native of Wisconsin, Wayne Lin at age 11 performed Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, 3rd. mvmt with the Green Bay Symphony, and at age 13, recorded Bruch’s Violin Concerto in g minor and Brahms’ Violin Concerto with the Plzen Radio Symphony Orchestra (Czech Republic). Mr. Lin appeared as a soloist with the symphonies of Milwaukee, Green Bay and Fox Valley. He was a member of the Green Bay Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Lin was also featured with the Bohuslav Martinu and the Hradec Kralove Philharmonic Orchestras (Czech Republic), and the Sudecka Philharmonic (Poland). In January of 2001, Mr. Lin received the best string performance honor in the WAMSO Young Artist Competition. A recording of his performance was broadcast on WQXR, New York. Mr. Lin has performed under the baton of such leading conductors as Seiji Ozawa, Sir Roger Norrington, James De Priest, Pierre Boulez, and Charles Dutoit. Mr. Lin has served as concertmaster for the Juilliard Symphony as well as the Tanglewood Festival Orchestra. Mr. Lin has completed a Bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance at the Juilliard School of Music with Mr. Glenn Dicterow, Concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic. He is currently studying at Yale University with Mr. Peter Oundjian. Mr. Lin performs on a G. B. Guadagnini, Turin 1779 violin.

Roberta Carpenter

Roberta Carpenter

A versatile musician, Roberta Carpenter is a conductor, violinist, and teacher. Ms. Carpenter has directed the Martinu Philharmonic, Hradec Kralove Philharmonic, and Janacek Philharmonic (Czech Republic), the Whitewater, Beloit/Janesville, and Menomonee Falls Symphonies, the Sudecka Philharmonic (Poland), Vidin Philharmonic, and the Waukesha, Concord, Appleton, and Oconomowoc Chamber Orchestras. She has conducted the Moscow Symphony, the Thueringen Philharmonic of Germany, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine in workshop settings. Ms. Carpenter was Music Director of the Whitewater and Carroll College Symphonies, and held Assistant Conductor positions with the Fox Valley Symphony and the Concord Chamber Orchestra. She has served on the faculty of UW-Whitewater and Carroll College. Ms. Carpenter completed coursework for a Doctoral Degree in Violin Performance and Orchestral Conducting at UW-Madison. She holds MM and BFA degrees from UW-Milwaukee. She has studied with many prominent conductors in the U.S., Canada, France, and the Czech Republic. A Wisconsin native, Ms. Carpenter has performed extensively as a violinist with symphonic, chamber, ballet and opera orchestras, serving many times as concertmistress. She has been featured as a chamber musician and has appeared in numerous solo recitals and performances. Her performances have aired on WTKM and Wisconsin Public Radio and on the WTMJ television ‘Wisconsin’s Performing Artists’ series. She has received a multitude of foundation grants and awards.

Martinu Philharmonic

The Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic (BMP) is named after one of the great Czech composers. The orchestra has made many recordings of his works since it was founded in the 1960s. The home of the orchestra is Zlin, an industrial town in the southern part of the Czech Republic. The repertoire of the BMP includes symphonic and chamber orchestra works of all periods. Three concert series and numerous tours within the Czech Republic make up the BMP's season. Guest performances have taken the orchestra to Italy, Denmark, Hungary, Greece, Poland, Austria, Romania, Germany, France, Spain and the United States of America. The Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic is well known through its radio and television broadcasts.

Filharmonie Hradec Kralove

The musical crown of a region with vast royal, historic and artistic heritage, Filharmonie Hradec Kralove (FHK) is one of the leading Czech symphonic orchestras. With 80 musicians, FHK performs three local concert series with over 90 concerts annually, including symphonic music, oratorios, and chamber music concerts of all styles. The orchestra records for television, radio, and CD. Filharmonic Hradec Kralove presents 15 concerts a year at the famous Music Hall of the Rudolfinum in Prague, and also tours many European countries: Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and Poland to name a few. FHK has welcomed many significant Czech and foreign conductors to its podium including V. Neumann, P. Altrichter, P. Vronsky, M. Turnovsky, and O. Dohnanyi.
